Privacy Policy

• Account information — name, email, and login method, managed by our authentication provider (Clerk).
• Career data you provide — skills, work experience, education, achievements, and any resume text or files you upload.
• Job posting content you submit for analysis or resume targeting.
• Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor (Stripe). We never see or store your full card number.
• Usage data — basic technical logs (e.g. timestamps, error rates) used to operate and troubleshoot the Service. Our logs never include your resume content, names, or contact details.

• To provide the Service of parsing resumes, compiling targeted resumes and cover letters, analyzing job postings, and scoring resume-to-job fit.
• To process payments and manage your subscription.
• To respond to support requests.
• To improve our ML models and product experience, using anonymized or aggregated data only (see below).

To compile resumes, generate cover letters, and analyze job postings, your career data is sent to our ML processing infrastructure solely to generate the output you requested. It is not used by our ML infrastructure provider to train their own general-purpose models.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for advertising, marketing, or any other purpose. The only parties who ever touch your data are service providers who help us run CareerLab HQ which are our authentication provider, payment processor, hosting infrastructure, and ML processing provider...and only to the extent needed to operate the Service on your behalf. None of them are permitted to use your data for their own independent purposes.

We may use anonymized or aggregated data, stripped of anything that identifies you, to improve our algorithms, understand product usage, and build better features. This anonymized data is used internally only. It is never shared externally, never sold, and never leaves our own systems. We treat all anonymized data with the same security standards as your personal data, and that isaccess is limited to select processes and people who need it to operate and improve the Service.

You can export a full copy of your data or permanently delete it at any time from Settings. Deletion removes your career data, uploaded resumes, and account information from our active systems. Residual copies may persist briefly in backups before being purged on our standard backup rotation. Deleting your data should be considered a non-recoverable destructive event.

If you have a paid subscription, deleting your account also cancels it, refunds the unused portion of your current billing period, and deletes your customer profile from our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe may keep records of past payments and refunds for as long as the law requires, and for fraud prevention and accounting, as described in Stripe's own privacy policy. If we can't issue the refund automatically, we pause the deletion and contact you until it is resolved.

You have the right to:

• Access and export the data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data and account
• Ask us questions about how your data is handled

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls limiting who can view your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously.

CareerLab HQ is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

We'll post any changes to this policy here with an updated “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify you directly.
