CareerLab HQ is built and run by one person: me, Bill, with a simple goal: help people put their best foot forward in a job search.

Why I built this

I've watched talented people struggle to translate years of experience into a resume that actually gets read. I, myself, have been in that boat...am currently in that boat. The tools out there either charge too much, lock you into templates that don't fit, or slap AI on top without understanding the person behind the bullets. CareerLab HQ starts from your actual career data: skills, experiences, education and lets you build from there, whether you need a quick generic resume, a role- targeted one, a cover letter, or just a clear picture of where you stand.

Not looking to get rich

CareerLab HQ isn't venture-backed, and it's not trying to be. The free tier gives you a real, working resume. The paid tiers: Essential at $15/mo and Professional at $25/mo are priced to cover infrastructure, ML API costs, and the services that keep the lights on. If the product grows enough to cover expenses, that's a win. No ads, no selling your data, no dark patterns.

Customer support

I read every bug report, feature request, and support message myself. I'll do my best to respond quickly, but I'm one person. If a reply takes a day or two, it's because I'm building or sleeping, not because I'm ignoring you. If something is broken, I want to know about it. If something is missing, I want to hear why it matters to you. The roadmap is public at /roadmap — every feature listed there started as someone's request or an idea I have.

Your data is safe here

I don't believe in using other people's data for anything outside of delivering the best possible experience on CareerLab HQ. Your career data, resumes, and personal information are yours, not mine to mine, sell, or share. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use spell this out in legal detail, but the short version is: we will never sell, rent, or give your data to any third party.

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. CareerLab HQ runs entirely on Cloudflare's infrastructure: Workers, Pages, D1, and Queues, all of which encrypt data at rest by default. Authentication goes through Clerk, a SOC 2 Type II certified identity provider. Payments are handled by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified processor. CareerLab HQ never sees or stores your full payment card details.

The tech

CareerLab HQ runs on Cloudflare's edge network: Workers, Pages, D1, and Queues, which means it's fast wherever you are and doesn't need a fleet of servers. ML features (resume compilation, cover letters, skill analysis, job description scoring) are powered by DeepSeek. Auth is handled by Clerk. Payments go through Stripe. The entire stack is TypeScript, and the source code is on GitHub in a private repository. I use state of the art vulnerability scanning, and every deploy gets scanned and blocked if there are any critical vulns.
